It’s time for another round of release date musical chairs! Disney has picked up its whole slate of upcoming releases and shaken it all up, moving around everything from Marvel to the next Alien movie to, yes, Star Wars.
The good news is, there’s currently a year with Star Wars movies scheduled for May and December. The bad news is… it’s 2026.
Do we know which Star Wars movies these are? Of course not (though The Hollywood Reporter says that the Daisy Ridley-starring film is farther along in development than the rest, so may be first). But according to Variety, one is set for May 22, 2026, and another for December 18, 2026. A third Star War is on the menu for December 17, 2027, which is a date so far in the distance that it sounds fake.

The Archive Undying
On the Marvel front, the new timeline looks like this:
- Deadpool 3 premieres May 3, 2024
- Captain America: Brave New World (formerly New World Order) premieres August 26, 2024
- Thunderbolts premieres December 20, 2024
- Blade is a sweet 2025 Valentine’s Day treat
- Fantastic Four premieres May 2, 2025
- Avengers: The Kang Dynasty premieres May 1, 2026
- Avengers: Secret Wars premieres May 7, 2027
Also, the live-action Moana sails onto the screen June 27, 2025, and the Avatar sequels are now dated for December 19, 2025; December 21, 2029, and December 19, 2031.
And what’s more, the upcoming Alien film from director Fede Alvarez and producer Ridley Scott is set for August 16, 2024. Does Alien feel like an August movie? That one seems a little weird.
As ever, these dates are subject to change. Put ’em in your calendar in pencil, I guess.
